The CASE for Mercedes-Benz

What is CASE?

Car companies are constantly trying to one-up each other when it comes to creating the newest and latest technology. Some focus on powerful engines while others update the driving experience. Other companies are taking on all of those ideas at once.

Mercedes-Benz has always worked on propelling the automotive industry forward and is still doing so with its new CASE initiative. Standing for Connected, Autonomous, Shared & Services, and Electric the idea is to keep moving forward.

Connected
Smart technology is becoming more and more popular as everything from our air conditioning to our refrigerators can be hooked up to wi-fi and our smartphones. It’s only natural that we would be able to eventually control our cars. Locking and unlocking, starting and stopping, with Mercedes-Benz’s newer models this can all be done from the comfort of your phone.

The Mercedes-Benz User Experience also works to make the inside of your car just as connected and high-tech. With navigation and entertainment blended into the display along with integrated artificial intelligence to learn what each driver is like the new MBUX will make each car unique to its driver.

Autonomous
Mercedes-Benz always puts the driving experience first, but that hasn’t stopped them from working on autonomous vehicles as well. Systems like the active lane change or parking assist are small ways to help make the driving experience better for the driver and make the car a bit more autonomous.

Autonomous vehicles can also impact the trucking industry and revolutionize how shipping works. Autopilot systems for long stretches of road can help drivers relax and rest when needed while man and machine work better in tandem with each other.

Shared & Services
It’s not all about the nuts and bolts of the cars though as Mercedes-Benz recognizes drivers need more flexibility whether the car is leased, owned or shared. Apps like Via and Moovel help facilitate transportation for those who might need a more short-term solution. By offering these services Mercedes-Benz hopes to offer more viable options for any driver’s needs.

Electric
The other next step in car technology is moving towards more electric cars. The EQ vehicles in Mercedes-Benz line up are only the first step in more battery powered engines and a move away from gas-powered vehicles.
